Colombia hires The Fratelli Group for second contract

WASHINGTON: The government of Colombia hired The Fratelli Group for its second consecutive contract to develop and implement a PR strategy around the country's business interests in the US, including the US-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement.

WASHINGTON: The government of Colombia hired The Fratelli Group for its second consecutive contract to develop and implement a PR strategy around the country's business interests in the US, including the US-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement.

The agreement, which was signed in November 2006, is waiting for Congressional approval. The contract, which began April 23 and ends December 31, has a budget of $200,000, according to a federal filing posted to the US Department of Justice Web site.

The firm had just completed a nine-month, $225,000 contract of the same scope of work with the government of Colombia that began in July 2008.

Burson-Marsteller, which won a $300,000 contract for a similar scope of work in March 2007, lost the account in April 2008 after Mark Penn, CEO of the firm, met with Colombian government executives causing public controversy due to his role as a strategist of then Senator Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

Most of the work on this new contract will focus on media relations. Target audiences include the media, the business community, and Colombia.
