LOS ANGELES: The Port of Los Angeles' government affairs team hired Gephardt Group, effective at the beginning of April. Arley Baker, senior director of communications and legislative affairs for the Port of Los Angeles, told PRWeek that the agency, which was signed for a "fairly small contract," will work with the Port's legislative team on environmental issues related to the Port.

The Port of Los Angeles continues its work with The Rogers Group, which handles PR support around the Clean Truck Program, Baker confirmed. The contract with The Rogers Group had to be approved by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in August 2008, but Baker explained that while the Port still worked with the Mayor's office while hiring Gephardt, the approval process for this smaller contract was different.
