Businesses are hurrying to claim their vanity URLs and avoid paying ransoms to squatters who will start claiming every available URL early Friday. To soften confrontations over domain names, Facebook is allowing companies to register their trademarked names through the site.
Registering doesn't secure the desired vanity URL, but it will allow businesses first crack at naming their sites. Get ready for a mad dash Saturday morning.
