MINNEAPOLIS: The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) hired Lagrant Communications to oversee PR around the relaunch of its program targeting historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), effective May 1. The agency, which has worked with the NMDP on projects in the past, was hired for the $65,000 contract and will oversee PR, media relations, and social media outreach, which is key for this target demographic.

The goal of the program, which will be ongoing, is to diversify the marrow registry and get students at HBCUs registered and involved with the organization, said Angela Watts, a strategic marketing specialist for the NMDP.
