GMAC's Proia promoted to CCO

DETROIT: Gina Proia was promoted to VP and chief communications officer (CCO) of GMAC Financial Services, effective immediately.

DETROIT: Gina Proia was promoted to VP and chief communications officer of GMAC Financial Services, effective immediately. Previously, she was executive director of communications, responsible for global media relations and financial communications.

The promotion was announced by CEO Al de Molina in an internal document that was shared with PRWeek. Proia will be responsible for all global communications activities, including developing strategic communications plans, and managing media relations, internal communications, digital media, executive communications, and community relations, according to the note. Proia reports to de Molina and will be part of the company's executive leadership team.

GMAC, founded in 1919 to provide financing for GM vehicles, was approved to become a bank holding company in December 2008, and it is a recipient of TARP funding. It also launched a rebranding campaign about one month ago to promote its online bank, now called Ally Bank.
