PALO ALTO, CA: Voce Communications has acquired the assets and staff of a Web development company to enhance its digital offerings.
As part of the deal finalized last month, Voce acquired CNP Studio's six Web developers who specialize in social media design and development work. Voce did not acquire the CNP Studio brand, which is the interactive division of Clark/Nikdel/Powell.
Rich Cline, president of Voce, said the agency has been working with CNP Studio for nearly two years on platform designs for clients like Sony, Yahoo, and eBay. The new staff will become a part of Voce Connect, the agency's arm that works on social media programs and development projects.
“Digital agencies have been doing things like microsites but they weren't really interactive," Cline explained. “These sites weren't on a platform that allows you to have integration between community, company, and discussion.”
The new team will focus on building interactive platforms that combine corporate branding with community forums. Its capabilities also include building on-demand Web tools to distribute messages. The service is also intended to evolve the PR industry's expertise in digital beyond Twitter, Facebook, and blogger relations.
“We're at the point where we can start creating iPhone applications and this allows PR to extend itself and own this platform,” Cline said.
The CNP Studio team will be based in Florida.
