The Associated Press announced July 23 that it is creating a registry to tag and track its content to ensure compliant use online.

The system will initially cover AP text content, and the organization will extend it to member content early next year, according to a statement.

Last year, the AP metwith the Media Bloggers Association after it felt that some member blogs used its content improperly. A JD Power and Associates surveyfound in March that nearly four in 10 bloggers said they would pay to reuse news content.
