On last night's Late Night with David Letterman, the talk show host admitted that over the past several weeks he had been the victim of an extortion attempt after a man threatened to reveal "terrible things" Letterman has done if he did not pay him $2 million. In his monologue last night, Letterman told his audience the story, eliciting laughs as the audience was not sure if he was telling the truth or joking. In the end, Letterman admitted that he had sexual relations with several female staffers on his show and that the man allegedly trying to extort Letterman, who was an employee for the CBS show 48 Hours, was arrested.
How did Letterman handle this possible PR fiasco? I think he handled it well, avoiding the "what is he trying to hide?" questions that would have come up had he not come forward with an honest reply. Others agree. But what do you think?
