NEW YORK: Kaplow launched a technology and emerging media practice, to be led by Chaim Haas. As part of the restructuring, David Herrick, EVP and GM, has left the company.

"We eliminated the position of general manager and are investing in the expansion of cross-agency services," Liz Kaplow, CEO, told PRWeek, adding that the departure was on good terms.

Herrick told PRWeek via e-mail that he enjoyed his nearly four years with the agency, and is now considering his steps.

Haas, formerly a VP at the agency, was promoted to SVP of the technology and emerging media practice group. He has been with the agency for several years, working on the Skype account, and will bring Skype to be a client under the new practice area. Kaplow declined to name other clients or potential clients.

"It is such an important area and for agencies to be relevant today," she said. "We have to look for ways to embrace changing media and embrace emerging technology."
