The past few weeks have seen a back and forth sparring between cellular networks AT&T and Verizon Wireless, after the latter launched an agressive campaign challenging its rival company's network coverage with the "There's a Map for That" ads. The slogan, a play on Apple's popular "There's an App for That" campaign, implies Verizon provides more coverage for users and prompted a lawsuit in which AT&T claimed false advertising and deceptive trade practices.
Fighting back with a new AT&T ad featuring a friendly-looking Luke Wilson comparing the two networks, it seems AT&T is not backing down. And Apple is getting in on the action to stand up for the network that houses its iPhone. In a series of ads set to air tonight, the technology giant pokes fun at the fact Verizon has yet to develop software to allow simultaneous voice and data connection. Who has? AT&T.
No telling where the sparring will go from here.
