BI Pharmaceuticals reports social media results for COPD campaign

PRWeek reported that Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals launched a social media-heavy campaign earlier in February to raise awareness about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

PRWeek reported that Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals launched a social media-heavy campaign earlier in February to raise awareness about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). 

One of the goal's for the campaign is to raise awareness about the disease with people who are at least 35 years old and have a history of smoking. Another goal is to screen one million people in 2010, using the online screening test available on the campaign's microsite.

In two weeks, the "Drive4COPD" campaign reported that more than 27,000 people have completed an online screening test, according to Biosector 2, the firm working on the campaign.

Here are other results: 1,400 people have fanned the campaign's Facebook page and search results for the term "Drive4COPD" increased to 140,000 from three.

The campaign's celebrity partners are Nascar driver Danica Patrick, actor Jim Belushi, Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner, country musician Patty Loveless, and former NFL-pro Michael Strahan.
