Hollywood publicist and social activist Stephen Rivers died of prostate cancer on Tuesday, June 8, The Los Angeles Times reports. He was 55 years old.

Hollywood publicist and social activist Stephen Rivers died of prostate cancer on Tuesday, June 8, The Los Angeles Times reports. He was 55 years old.

Throughout his career, Rivers worked with notable figures in entertainment including actors Kevin Costner, Jane Fonda, Richard Dreyfuss, and director Oliver Stone.

Rivers was also heavily involved in social activism, assisting in the organization of Seeds for Peace, the Magic Johnson Foundation, and the Rock the Vote campaigns.
