NEW YORK: Porter Novelli has created a real-time reputation specialty, which focuses on reputation management and crisis communications using traditional and social media tools. The team, a combination of corporate communications and social media strategists, will work to plan for events and crises, manage clients' reputation both online and off, and restore reputation after an incident.

The new specialty includes vulnerability audits to help assess potential problems; crisis preparedness testing and simulations; early warning monitoring that tracks online buzz and provides analytics; reputation restoration for after a crisis; and "go teams," which include specialists who use digital tools for customer support, internal communications, and more.
