SAN FRANCISCO: Margit Wennmachers, co-founder of Outcast Communications, will leave the firm to become a partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, confirmed Outcast co-founder Caryn Marooney.

Wennmachers, who worked closely with Andreessen Horowitz, an Outcast client since its inception in January 2009, will start at the firm in September and leave Outcast in July, explained Marooney.

"We're very sad Margit is leaving, but we're excited about the opportunities ahead," she said. "It's not the Caryn and Margit show. It's Outcast."

Of Wennmachers' move, she said, "It's a great opportunity for her. She's going to have the ability to work with entrepreneurs at a really early stage. That's a lot of what we do here now."

The firm currently works with brands like Facebook, Yahoo, and VMware. Andreessen Horowitz will remain a client.
