That, allied to the integral roles he plays in global lobbying campaigns, such as those for the Olympic Games and soccer's World Cup bids, makes Taaffe a more influential operator than many give him credit for – something that stood him in good stead to run a tight ship at H&K in a difficult period for all agencies over the past 18 months.
