Why this month's Launch Pad is needed

In our Launch Pad for October, Cartoon Network is launching an anti-bullying campaign during National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. Other organizations are also using this time to shed light on the issue, including releasing stats and data on bullying.

A Harris Poll from Harris Interactive found that 9% of 13-15 year old teens and 3% of 16-18 year old teens reported that they are always or often bullied to a point that makes them feel very sad, angry, or upset. Twenty-eight percent of all teens reported they are sometimes bullied to that point.

Yet there are some heartening statistics, ones that show how campaigns like the one from Cartoon Network, which encourages teens to speak up when witnessing bullying, could influence teens.

Of the teens surveyed, 59% said they would stand up for someone who was being bullied, while 40% said they would tell an adult outside of school, and 39% said they would tell an adult at school.
