NEW YORK: AOL hired MTV's Lauren Hurvitz to lead corporate communications.

She replaces Tricia Primrose Wallace, a 13-year veteran of AOL who said in June that she planned to leave the company in order to spend more time with her family.

Hurvitz, a former EVP of corporate communications and public affairs for MTV Networks, is slated to start October 13. She left MTV in 2008. Her experience also includes the nine years she worked at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery.

As head of communications for AOL, Hurvitz will report to Artie Minson, chief financial and administrative officer for AOL. Hurvitz's responsibilities include internal, external, and employee communications, media relations, public affairs, community relations and philanthropy, and corporate events.
