Valdes-Fauli, who has been with the agency since 2004, was promoted to MD of US Hispanic in June. Ortega joined the agency as president in 2005 and, prior to that, was an MD at Burson-Marsteller.
"It's been a very intense ride for the past six years; it's been awesome," Ortega told PRWeek. "I know the team that remains is a solid team." The Jeffrey Group was founded in 1993 by Jeffrey Sharlach, chairman and CEO, and focuses on reaching Hispanic and Latino consumers, within the US and Latin America.
"Mike will be leading the charge for us here, working closely with Brian Burlingame, our COO," Sharlach said. "We certainly wish [Jorge] well. He did a great job for us."
Ortega has not yet announced plans for his next professional step, but said he is taking a few weeks off.
"We see a few big growth areas for our company, including US Hispanic and Brazil," Valdes-Fauli said. With the Census results coming out next year, "we feel well positioned to capitalize on that." The agency is also considering expanding its presence in Brazil with an office in Rio de Janiero.
Additionally, Juan Sanchez, a VP at The Jeffrey Group from 1993 to 2002, rejoined the agency as senior counselor. In his new position, he will work on both US Hispanic and Latin American clients on program development.
