NEW YORK: Edelman has appointed Nancy Ruscheinski, current president and COO for the US, to the newly created role of CIO and global vice chair.

Ruscheinski, who has been at the firm for 24 years, will assume the new responsibilities on July 1, and will report to Richard Edelman, president and CEO. She will continue to work out of the co-headquarters in Chicago.

The new CIO role has been established to focus on innovation by creating new services, tools, and processes across the company's global network.

Ruscheinski's duties as CIO will include promoting Edelman's content offering and driving innovation in traditional, news, social and owned media; and increase product development in search, video, social, and mobile media.

Her experience in innovation while at the agency included the launch of its digital practice. She has also led pilot programs for new mobile and entertainment ventures for clients such as Burger King, Darden, Humana, Kraft Foods, Quaker, SC Johnson, and Wrigley.
