IBM's Iwata to chair Arthur W. Page Society

NEW YORK: Jon Iwata, SVP of marketing and communications for IBM, has been elected chairman of the Arthur W. Page Society, effective January 1, 2012.

NEW YORK: Jon Iwata, SVP of marketing and communications for IBM, has been elected chairman of the Arthur W. Page Society, effective January 1, 2012.

Iwata succeeds Bill Margaritis, SVP of global communications and IR at FedEx.

At IBM, Iwata oversees the company's marketing, communications, and citizenship functions. He recently led the development of IBM's "Smarter Planet" strategy, which promotes awareness of the company's view on the next era of IT, and its impact on business and society. Iwata also led marketing and communications around Watson, the experimental computer system that defeated human contestants on television game show series "Jeopardy!"

Meanwhile, two new Page Society trustees have been named: Elise Eberwein, EVP of people, communications, and public affairs at US Airways, and Wendi Strong, EVP of corporate communications at the United Services Automobile Association (USAA.) Both also start their terms on January 1, 2012.
