NEW YORK: Critical Media hired Dave Armon, former president and COO of PR Newswire, as president of Critical Mention, the company's real-time media intelligence platform.
In addition to providing general leadership and guidance for Critical Mention and encouraging a focus on providing top-notch service, Armon will work to develop and maintain relationships with other PR services companies that need broadcast monitoring capability.
Armon joined in this newly created position on September 12. Critical Media CEO Sean Morgan explained the company's business units have all experienced recent rapid growth and have upcoming product launches, so developing the position allows for more fully dedicated leadership in each of the company's business units.
“It was just the right time to bring on Armon as president of the Critical Mention unit,” Morgan said. “It's an exceptional opportunity to have a dedicated leader focused 100 percent on Critical Mention, its products, and our users.”
Previously, Morgan led all of Critical Media's business units, which include Critical Mention, Clip Syndicate, and Syndicaster. With Armon taking the helm at Critical Mention, Morgan will shift his attention to providing a more dedicated focus to the media services groups.
Armon was hired due to his understanding of the services market and the needs of corporate communicators, his knowledge of digital and social media, and his experience and success with scaling PR Newswire.
After watching Critical Mention's recent growth, Armon said when approached about the position he felt it was a perfect match.
“I wanted to be with a significant disruptive technology company in the PR services space,” he added.
Since leaving PR Newswire in 2009, Armon has been VP of business development at Scratch Music Group, a consultant for NASDAQ's global corporate solutions group, and vice chairman at DNA13.
