Weber Shandwick, GolinHarris expand Brazilian footprint via S2Publicom acquisition

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL: Interpublic Group (IPG) has acquired majority control of S2Publicom, a Brazil-based agency.

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL: Interpublic Group (IPG) has acquired majority control of S2Publicom, a Brazil-based agency. The deal will expand the presence of IPG agencies Weber Shandwick and GolinHarris in the region, the holding company said in a statement.

S2Publicom launched last year after a merger of S2 and Publicom, both affiliates of Weber Shandwick and GolinHarris. The agency, which has 125 employees, has offices in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The firm specializes in marketing communications, with expertise in the corporate, consumer, technology, and healthcare sectors. Clients include McDonald's, Petrobas, HTC, and Gol Airlines.

Founding partner José Luiz Schiavoni will continue to lead S2Publicom as CEO. Luciana Gurgel and Aldo De Luca, founding partners, will serve as senior strategists and client counselors.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
