Country Living, a Hearst Corporation-owned magazine, recognized a number of bloggers today at its first Blue Ribbon Blogger Awards.

Once thought of as a mere hobby, blogging communities have gained more credibility and traction as influencers in an arena cluttered with traditional print media.

Currently, Country Living is embracing blogger communities through its "Idea Notebook" section in print, featuring do-it-yourself tips and advice from bloggers.

The publication honored seven bloggers on Thursday in the categories of lifestyle, pets, crafts, decorating, food, gardening, and collecting. It announced a call for entries several months ago, garnering more than 700, said Sarah Gray Miller, editor-in-chief of Country Living.

Miller said at a time when some felt print and online seemed "diametrically opposed," Country Living was flattered to have its stories featured on blogs.

"The inspiration is definitely mutual," she added.

The winners can be found on Country Living's website.
