SEATTLE: HTC has hired Tom Harlin, formerly of T-Mobile, as director of communications for North America.

Reporting to Jason Gordon, senior director of global communications, Harlin will oversee communications in North America, Latin America, and Canada, with a focus on product publicity.

“HTC is obviously a great brand and an innovative company, so it's a great place to land,” Harlin said. He joined HTC on October 31.

For the previous six years, Harlin worked at T-Mobile, most recently as senior manager of external communications. He led product, service, and network publicity, along with the brand's PR-related social media activities.

“It's a great opportunity to be able to jump to HTC,” he said.

Prior to T-Mobile, Harlin worked at Nintendo of America, focusing on gaming and consumer media. He worked for all of Nintendo's key brands and the company's game consoles and hand-held devices.

In May, HTC bolstered its communications team by hiring Sally Julien as global director of corporate communications.
