This holiday season Marina Maher Communications (MMC) staff is participating in several charitable holiday programs, including gift drives.
The agency is sponsoring a gift drive for Covenant House which works to help foster confidence in homeless children. Staff will donate gifts for homeless girls and boys ages 12 to 18. We're also collecting toys for our local Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, which provides items to needy and underprivileged children of New York City. MMC has participated in this popular toy drive for the past several years and has donated more than 250 toys.
For the third year in a row we will also participate in the New York Cares Holiday Coat Drive, which provides warm winter coats to men, women, and children who would otherwise go without. New York Cares' goal this December is to collect 100,000 coats citywide.
These holiday efforts are part of the agency's umbrella program for year-round cause-related programs, MMC for a Cause. MMC for a Cause organizes a variety of events throughout the year that offer staff numerous opportunities to give back. Past programs included creating journal kits for hospitalized children and revitalizing a local elementary school.
A twice-yearly internal survey shows that MMC for a Cause not only benefits the organizations we work with but MMC staff as well. More than two-thirds of staff have a strong appreciation for the program: 37% of staff rate the program as “valuable” and 31% rate it as “extremely valuable.”
Comments from MMC employees regarding the program include this one: “I am very proud to work for an agency that has so many caring and giving employees.”
