Nokia nixes Symbian name for Nokia Belle

Nokia is rebranding the latest version of Symbian OS as Nokia Belle.

Nokia is rebranding the latest version of Symbian OS as Nokia Belle. The change was made without much hype or attention, and was announced in an under-the-radar fashion within a blog post yesterday about “the all new Nokia Belle.”

“The all new Nokia Belle (previously Symbian Belle) user interface will soon be available for download to some existing smartphones and begin shipping with a selection of smartphones that are already on the market,” the blog stated.

Though the company is not saying much about the rebrand, some suspect the change reflects the company's belief that it is a stronger brand and will lead to better sales figures.
