NEW YORK: Dan Klores Communications has hired William Cunningham, former director of communications for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, as an EVP.

"It was a natural time to make a move," said Cunningham, who was the senior advisor and strategist for Bloomberg's re-election campaign.  The mayor has just been inaugurated to his second term.

During his time with the Bloomberg administration, Cunningham was responsible for directing the media outreach for the Mayor's office, as well as for more than 50 city agencies. Such experience will translate well to his first agency position, he said.

"You're dealing with a news cycle [in New York City] that's 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You learn to get the information culled together and put it into operation," he said. "That's a skill set that will mesh nicely with what they do at Dan Klores Communications."

Cunningham will work on a variety of clients within DKC's corporate practice areas.
