NEW YORK: The New York Times has revamped its website to include more multimedia functionality, meta-tagging of popular topics, and a MyTimes feature that allows users to organize how they receive news from the NYT and elsewhere.

In a statement, Leonard Apcar, editor in chief of NYTimes.com said the functional changes were undertaken in order to "make experiencing The New York Times online simpler and more useful."

The Times Topics section, which now organizes articles based on the topics they cover, reflects a trend in new media wherein users can sort content based on tags (also called folksonomies).

Additional features include a most-blogged-about section and a tab that displays articles exactly in the order in which they appeared in the newspaper.
