NEW YORK: Abelson Group has launched a dedicated mobile practice with four new clients, in a move to better service the burgeoning marketplace.

The service, mobilePR, debuts with four clients: mPortal, Neven Vision, Sonim Technologies, and Telescope. All four help provide services or software that enables a better consumer mobile experience. Abelson already works with mBlox, which helped enable the launches of mobile virtual network operators Disney Mobile and Mobile ESPN.

"In the last couple of years, there has been a focus on mobile technology," said Jennifer Abelson, CEO. "We had strength in telecom and VoIP, so it really made sense to launch a mobile practice."

Abelson said much of the mobilePR's work, led by Abelson Director Elysia Liss, will focus on the business-to-consumer space, as she noted that the public was either unaware of how to use their phone for things like search, downloads, and transactions, or wary to do so. There are nearly 200 million US wireless customers.

She said the biggest challenge – and opportunity – was teaching consumers how they can access content – such as games, news, and music – beyond what the cell phone carriers provide.

"Our goal is to enhance that user experience and the content usability," Abelson says.
