BEAVERTON, OR: After a non-traditional review, Nike has chosen Edelman and GCI Group for various PR projects.
This will mark the first time Nike has worked with either agency.
Nike rarely discusses its PR firms, so details are scant. US media relations director Dean Stoyer declined to discuss the firms' tasks. Billings are undisclosed.
"We've just started working with Edelman and GCI in different capacities and on different projects," Stoyer told PRWeek. "I can't get into details about either one."
Stoyer said Nike didn't issue an RFP, but said there was a review of an undisclosed number of firms.
"We were looking at the landscape of agencies and [at] who was doing what but it wasn't for any specific projects or initiatives it was looking at our business across the whole," Stoyer said. "It wasn't a traditional review but this certainly wasn't a random choice. We definitely looked at both agencies very closely among others."
Edelman and GCI declined to comment.
