Not since sporting events resumed a couple of weeks after the terrorist attacks of September 11 did a game feel like so much more than just a game as it did in New Orleans this week when football returned to the Superdome.

After repairing the almost $200 million in damages caused by Hurricane Katrina, The New Orleans Saints played their first real home game in more than a year when they hosted the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football this week.

Last year the franchise was forced to play its “home games” in a number of different venues, including the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ.
