CHICAGO: The Center for Companies that Care, a nonprofit dedicated to recognizing businesses that value their employees and community involvement, has hired MWW Group to handle outreach for its upcoming CAREDAYS event.

The month-long event, which begins March 15, is a national initiative that engages businesses, encourages participation in philanthropic initiatives, and provides information on how to help their employees live healthier lives.

Tina-Marie Adams, SVP and GM of MWW's Chicago office, said the agency is reaching out directly to businesses around the country to encourage participation, providing collateral materials to make it easier. The beneficiaries of this year's charitable efforts will be community health centers around the country.

Adams said that one of the areas MWW is targeting is Jackson, MS, which is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina.

She added that most of the companies targeted recognize that their philanthropic activities ultimately benefit their employees and the companies overall.

"Many of [the companies] understand there's a value in retaining employees and you can do that through things like CSR and corporate philanthropy," she said. "Employees find more meaning in a workplace when they are part of a company that cares."
