None of my tablemates had any apparent personal stake in the PRWeek awards last night, so our general reaction to the winners was relatively sedate. But the Text 100 table behind us and the MS&L group off to our right were impressively enthusiastic whenever they heard their firms mentioned.

Quite a few Washington, DC, public affairs and PR professionals were in attendance, including Ketchum’s Noam Gelfond (whose team captured an award for their work on Russia’s G8 presidency), Burson’s Jim Lake, and others who were there but whom I missed seeing amidst the crowds and noise of the pre- and post-dinner cocktails hours.

One benefit to drinking multiple gin-and-tonics: the frigid air seemed refreshing as opposed to painful on the walk to catch a cab back to the hotel.
