Fox and NBC Universal are ‘very likely' to look for extensive comms support for the planned video-sharing website.

NBC corporate comms director Julie Summersgill told PRWeek UK a search for PR support would begin once a management team for the unnamed service is in place.

The news could herald a global scramble as agencies make efforts to represent the companies involved. AOL, Yahoo and MSN have all signed up to the project, which will be funded by advertising and is a bid to sidestep the copyright troubles YouTube is facing.

This month YouTube became the subject of a £550m copyright infringement lawsuit by Viacom.
