Rice departs Disney for UA

LOS ANGELES: After three years as chief of publicity for Buena Vista Pictures, Dennis Rice has left Disney to join the new United Artists studio. In his role with UA -- the studio headed by producing partners Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner -- Rice will serve as worldwide head of film marketing and publicity, overseeing campaigns for both feature films and home video. Based in Los Angeles, he will report directly to Wagner. While at Buena Vista, Rice spearheaded marketing campaigns for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, The Chronicles of Narnia, and National Treasure, among other films. He also was in charge of marketing several Pixar Animation Studios films. Previously, Rice also served as marketing chief at Disney division Miramax.
