When I spoke to Jeffrey Douglas, communications director of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech University, it was three days after the shooting that left 33 people dead. He sounded exhausted. I’m not sure if it was the first moment of downtime he had gotten in three days, but listening to him over the phone, it sure sounded like it.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because the shooting had been the focal point of every news show on every channel since it occurred, and rightly so. But that must have made for an extremely busy three days for Douglas and his colleagues.

But Douglas, who has worked on the Virginia Tech campus for 25 years, was eager to talk about and praise the job that the university’s communications people along with some state officials had done. The transcript of my interview with him can be found here (free).
