Public affairs veteran Hunt killed in car crash

LOS ANGELES: Longtime Southern California communications professional Dennis A. Hunt died Sunday in a car accident in which no other vehicles were involved. Over the span of his career, Hunt, 60, helped manage PR and public affairs initiatives for a variety of organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control, California Business Roundtable, California HealthCare Foundation, and National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education. He also held senior-level positions at agencies including Ogilvy & Mather, Hunt/Marmillion/Associates, and Deaver & Hannaford. Most recently, Hunt served as VP of communications and public affairs at The California Endowment. In that role, he spearheaded the foundation's strategic efforts to combat childhood obesity, and to expand health coverage for the uninsured. Hunt also helped create the USC Annenberg/California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowship Program.
