News anchors are supposed to be beacons of impartiality. But retired news anchors get to say whatever they want, and get in trouble for it. Dan Rather got involved in a feud with CBS CEO Les Moonves last week, who accused Rather of sexism for saying that the network “tarted up” the evening newscast when it brought in Katie Couric. Rather responded to the criticism by saying that Moonves “doesn’t know news.” Who’s right? Well, CBS continues to languish in last place in the ratings. We report, you decide.
