PR icon Wolcott dies

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA: Past PRSA president Robert B. Wolcott Jr. died on June 19 of natural causes. Founder of the Los Angeles-based Wolcott and Associates in 1950, with clients that over the years included MGM, Sunkist Growers, and MCA/Universal Studios, Wolcott served as PRSA president in 1966, the first person from the Western US to hold the position, and the following year founded the PRSA’s Public Service Council. The PRSA, in a release, called Wolcott an industry icon and a pioneer in establishing the direct relationship between the PR profession and chief executives.
