Attracting multi-ethnic PR talent is a major objective throughout the industry. How do we go about it?

One of the best ways to recruit more diverse talent is to use the various PR associations.

One of the best ways to recruit more diverse talent is to use the various PR associations. For example, if your agency or corporation is looking to increase its hiring of African-American PR pros, you can contact your local chapter of the Black Public Relations Society of America (BPRSA). This organization announces job openings via e-mail to their dues-paying members.

Another good idea is to have your PR and human resources executives attend the BPRSA's networking events.

If you're focusing on Hispanic PR pros, you can also reach out to the Hispanic Public Relations Association in your area. In addition, there are several Asian PR organizations, such as the Asian American Advertising and Public Relations Alliance.

Another avenue is advertising your PR positions in newspapers geared toward specific diversity audiences. Moreover, there are several minority-focused newsletters in which you can post your jobs, such as US Asian Wire's monthly newsletter, which serves the PR industry.
