From September 9-12, STYLE360 featured eight designers at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea with retail partner Henri Bendel and corporate and supporting sponsors: Mercury Mariner, Max Factor, Nikon, Montblanc, youronthelist.com, and more. Hachette Filipachi (HFM)--the publishers of Elle, Elle Decor, Metropolitan Home, and American Photo-- was behind the execution of this event for the fourth year.
I was at Tuesday night’s show which featured the brand 2(X)IST. And for those of you who aren’t familiar with it—it’s men’s underwear (yes, the female crowd was quite rowdy at this show). Carmen Electra came out to perform using a hula hoop (won’t go into detail but you can imagine) and stage dancers used cloth hanging from the ceiling to do a variety of twisty turns with their bodies (they were amazingly flexible).
The real bonus? Attendees were given gift bags with about a year’s worth of Sunsilk hair products (who doesn’t love free hair care products?). And the red carpet Henri Bendel anniversary bash that followed at the Highline Ballroom was quite ritzy as well—maybe a little too ritzy for me.
Fashion was a hot topic in the media for the past week as newspapers and blogs covered all the designers' latest collections and fashion-conscious individuals tried to unearth the trends for the next season. The thing I learned from all these fashion events: If you're tall and skinny, it doesn't matter how ridiculous your outfit is because you'll always look good in it.
Woe is me.
