SUNNYVALE, CA: Yahoo is reviewing firms to consolidate consumer PR for its network division.

Jennifer Stephens, VP of corporate communications at Yahoo, said the firm would eliminate several smaller agencies and put one firm in charge of the consumer-facing PR for its network division.

"We're thinking about our consumer content businesses differently and a little more holistically," she said.

Three large agencies are bidding for the account, but Stephens declined to name them. A decision is expected this month, she added.

Stephens declined to cite the contract amount, but noted Yahoo's network division includes all of the company's consumer products, excluding its mobile applications. "So we obviously have a lot of assets," she added.

The tech giant will continue working with OutCast Communications for its trade and business media outreach, and Hill & Knowlton for its mobile applications, she said. Additionally, the move will not affect Yahoo's in-house PR function, she added.

Yahoo's network division includes its search components, communications applications, community assets, media properties, and its homepage.
