LOS ANGELES: The Writers Guild of America has hired Bill Carrick and Kam Kuwata, both prominent California political consultants, to advise them during the ongoing writers strike. WGA spokesman Gregg Mitchell confirmed the hirings, which took place last month, to PRWeek.

Mitchell declined to discuss specifically what the pair has done for the group so far, but said that they are advising on a mix of strategic and communications issues, adding, “Communications—that could mean anything from press advisories to statements to interviews. It's a wide variety of things.”

The WGA's hiring of Kuwata and Carrick follows closely on the heels of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers' (AMPTP's) December hiring of their own pair of Democratic consultants, Chris Lehane and Mark Fabiani. T

he strike itself is ongoing with no clear end in sight, although late night talk shows have now all returned to the air.
