PALO ALTO, CA: Hewlett-Packard has selected Edelman to handle the majority of communications on the company's personal systems group (PSG).

The account will be led by Bob Angus, chair of Edelman's global technology practice, but work will be spread across Edelman's agencies nationwide, according to Jim Christensen, director of media relations at HP's PSG. The PSG division includes notebooks, desktops, workstations, gaming equipment, and entertainment equipment. Christensen declined to cite the contract amount.

Edelman won the account following a vendor review, Christensen said. Porter Novelli previously handled the PSG account, and will continue to handle pieces of the account in North America. Additionally, Porter Novelli will continue handling PR on HP's laser and printing division in North America.

HP also works with High Road Communications and Hill & Knowlton.
