NEW YORK: The law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison has hired Sard Verbinnen & Co to handle media relations for former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and his wife, Silda.
Sard MD Denise DesChenes said the team providing representation on behalf of the governor and his wife consists of herself, MDs Brandy Bergman and Anna Cordasco, and chairman and CEO George Sard. She declined to provide further details on the work.
Spitzer resigned from office on March 12 after a federal wiretap revealed him as a client of a prostitution ring.
No criminal charges have been filed against the former governor, though investigations are underway by the New York Commission on Public Integrity, the Senate Investigations Committee, and the Albany County District Attorney's office regarding the release of records of police escorts used by Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, a Republican and former Spitzer nemesis.
