SoundClick picks MyPRGenie to sing its praises

NEW YORK: SoundClick, a music social media network, selected MyPRGenie as its AOR and as the PR partner for its 3.3 million members.

On-demand PR services provider MyPRGenie allows clients to distribute press releases, videos, and images through its distribution channels. SoundClick plans to use the service to raise awareness about its site and generate sponsors. In addition, SoundClick artists, who are largely independent musicians, will receive special rates from MyPRGenie to promote their work.

“It's a natural extension for SoundClick artists,” said Dan Dougherty, chief revenue officer for SoundClick. “Artists who've been using SoundClick have been self-promoting. Now, a lot of mainstream artists are finding themselves in the same position … taking it upon themselves to do things they used to rely on the record companies for.”

SoundClick launched its ad sales group this past summer but does not yet have a dedicated marketing department. It wanted a PR firm that could promote its site's benefits to sponsors targeting “a young, influential audience.”

“We need to cut through the clutter and let the advertising community know who we are,” said Dougherty. “[And] MyPRGenie talked about their service as it would benefit the artists. It fits organically with what SoundClick is all about – helping artists [and] helping them promote themselves.”
