SAN JOSE: Paypal is reviewing agencies for a six-figure contract to serve as the company's AOR, according to an industry source.
Amanda Pires, director, communications and brand at PayPal, confirmed that the company, "Is currently engaged in a search for marketing and PR agencies of record," but declined to specify the budget.
According to two industry sources, the review included about 20 agencies, and Paypal recently shortlisted about three agencies. Pires, however, would not elaborate.
"We have not given out specific numbers or decided on our finalist yet," Pires said. "We have not commented on the RFI overall other than to say that we are engaging in [a] private RFI process."
The eBay-owned online commerce company previously worked with Bite Communications, Access, and Airfoil on PR projects. Janet Tyler, president of Airfoil, said the agency stopped working with PayPal last year and was not asked to participate in the review.
