Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, wrapped up his three-part online musical miniseries, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, on July 19. Actors Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Felicia Day starred in the series, which was available online for free until July 20. Now, the entire series is available on iTunes and there are plans for a DVD release.

This popular online series is a boost for Whedon's brand, drawing praise from blogs and fans. The Web site even crashed under the amount of viewers on July 15. But it is a reversal of usual entertainment online fare, choosing to start online and make its way to DVD. Whedon is currently working on the January 2009 debut of his upcoming TV series on Fox, Dollhouse, starring Eliza Dushku.
