J&J restructures its public affairs, corp comms' leadership

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ: Johnson & Johnson restructured its public affairs and corporate communication leadership. Senior J&J communication professionals assignments are now linked with key stakeholder groups, the company told employees October 3.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ: Johnson & Johnson restructured its public affairs and corporate communication leadership. Senior J&J communication professionals assignments are now linked with key stakeholder groups, the company told employees October 3. 

The team of six VPs report to Ray Jordan, VP of public affairs and corporate communication at New Brunswick, NJ-based J&J. The move follows the September 1 retirement of Nancy Walker, the company's former VP of global pharmaceutical communications. That position will be filled by the new team, J&J said.

Effective October 1, Jeff Leebaw, Susan Odenthal, Craig Rothenberg, and Dave Swearingen were named VPs of corporate communication and Pat Molino, VP of public affairs and corporate citizenship.

Leebaw is now working with the finance and IR functions and social media; Odenthal, the office of strategy and growth and the corporate affairs leadership team; Rothenberg, HR and communication councils; and Molino, government affairs and policy.

Swearingen, who announced plans to retire in the first quarter of next year and also will not be replaced, is working to transition his responsibilities, which include the Safe Kids Worldwide partnership, executive training with crisis and issues management, and the company's health channel on YouTube.

Sarah Colamarino, a former VP of worldwide communications for J&J's DePuy franchise, will join as VP of corporate communications, November 3. Her responsibilities will include the annual report, meeting of shareholders, and revisions of the company's messaging as well as JNJ BTW, the company's corporate blog.
