CBS makes online viewing interactive

CBS Interactive is going beyond showing full episodes of its shows online by introducing "social viewing rooms"

CBS Interactive is going beyond showing full episodes of its shows online by introducing "social viewing rooms," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The program allows viewers to chat and interact with others online while watching CBS programming.

As one way to increase interaction with viewers, the new program also features several older shows, including Melrose Place, which could attract a different set of viewers to the site.

The program was rolled out today for daytime and prime-time shows, but CBS Interactive hopes to expand to other properties, such as Showtime and The CW, in the future.
